Billy Graham's Sermons Translated in Chinese

Professor Po-yen Koo
It's not everyday that a gifted linguist comes to your doorstep but East Gates experienced such a miracle in the summer of 1997 when Professor Po-yen Koo, a retired professor of education, gave us a call.

About a year before he contacted East Gates, he had asked the BGEA for permission to translate Billy Graham's printed sermons into Chinese ~ free of charge. In his 80s, Professor Koo felt this project would be a wonderful way he could serve and show his love to the Chinese people. On April 18, 1996 he received permission to translate all of Billy Graham's sermon tracts into Chinese. Professor Koo quickly got to work and in about ten months, the translation of Billy Graham's 161 sermons was complete. The BGEA has granted East Gates the Chinese language rights to publish Dr. Graham's sermons
in China.

At present, copies of Billy Graham's sermons have been published in simplified and traditional Chinese. People have read the printing of the translated sermons and have praised the quality of translation. One reader remarked how she had never read a translation as eloquent in wording as Professor Koo's manuscript. She predicted this book will have a tremendous influence upon the Chinese heart.
